I'm just testing the waters for interest... would anyone be interested in an alt/farming raid, in the spirit of Bacon or KSD (one night a week for a few hours kind of thing)?

If so, what nights are best for you?

What class would you bring, and in what spec?

Where

We'd start in Tier11, even if 4.2 wasn't released yet. Long term, we'd likely end up being a tier behind the main raids. If there weren't lockout conflicts with the roster, we could move up a tier when it made sense for the group. This would let people raid on their alts, keep things running smoothly by doing the "easier" content, but also allow the opportunity for mains to come without worrying about getting locked out of their primary raids.

Goal is build ourselves into a successful farming run, not a progression raid.

Why

I always liked that KSD had a dual role (on top of making money and having fun on alts) of being a place where we could help gear up new players who were looking to join one of the "real" raids. We almost always had 2-3 fluid spots that we could fill with freshly capped characters to trashcan loot, or to invite a friend who didn't come regularly but were interested in "hanging out" that night.

It would also be a good place to keep MCA's regular subs appropriately geared, by giving them the opportunity to run with us when they weren't needed in a primary raid, and would make a nice "holding pen" for people who were waiting for a permanent opening but didn't have one yet. At bare minimum though, MCA can really use a raid right now that grooms people for subbing into our primary raids, who are currently struggling anytime there is an absence.

Who

I would like to have a core of regular people who come every week (on some alt or another), but there will likely be plenty of space for people who think they might want to come occasionally but don't want to commit to a regular spot. I will put together a calendar of like 15-18 people, and if people want to come that week, they can accept, if they don't, they can decline, and hopefully at the end, I will have at least 10 viable characters.

Right now I have (probably) one tank, one healer, a few DPS who are interested to varying degrees, and a couple of us who are flexible on roles.

When

We'd probably start mid-to-late May so there is time to gear characters up and all that.

Personally, I prefer Sunday evenings because they are at the end of the lockout week when people are more likely to volunteer to come, but I know some people don't like weekends. So give me alternative ideas.

(note: Thrs/Friday/Mon and day times are totally out due to my schedule)

If you are interested, post here or PM me. Please make sure tell me which character and role you're interested on, whether you are aiming for a regular position or a "put me on the calendar in case I'm available" spot, and if you have any date/time preferences.

If I get enough interest and feedback, I'll have Cal throw me up a subforum and we'll start hammering out details.

eh, I'm way out of touch - but Im' pretty much not raiding at all now due to turnover, burnout, RL, etc so I may be interested with this toon or my warrior (tank)

Expressed Interest to Varying Degrees:
Hidden text: show
Tanks:
Soarmus
Voldir

Healers:
Sadea
Caldar
Eli

DPS:
Susie
Merapeh
Vain/Vecon
Nestus ?
Jaehaerys
Lithmir
[Norial's rogue]
Sterfal
[Zartuck's shaman] - backup

We definitely need at least one more healer. Right now I am thinking of having Ren bring his druid when he can join us, which means a shaman or paladin would be best, but he could easily bring his paladin if someone is interested on their resto druid.

We have a few open DPS spots as well, since several of the people on the list just want to be on the calendar as a backup.

We also need more "backups" for every role, since several of the people who expressed interest wouldn't be able to make every week or aren't totally sure of their ability to commit.

Updated list of interested people.

Thinking Sunday ~6.30/7-9pm right now, starting towards the end of May, but this is subject to change and still open to discussion from interested parties.

Still need to drum up some more people to get this off the ground. If you know anyone who might be interested in your social circle or guild, point them this way.

To reiterate, we need at least one more healer and some more DPS (ideally of varied classes) for sure, and then on top of that, we need backups of every role since I don't expect this will be the kind of raid the same people can make every week. People who don't want to commit but think they might want to come along a couple times a month are totally fine.

I'm sorry I'm having such an issue nailing down a time.

I send a PM to a bunch of people and surveyed some more in-game. The general theme is that most people either don't care or prefer the earlier time slot, but some people can't make the early time slot at all.

I'd like to extend the "voting" to include other MCA members who might be more likely to sub (or join) the raid depending on the time slot.

I'm adding a poll to the OP. Please vote for ALL the timeslots you can make if you are interested in coming (even if you're not on the current list). If you absolutely cannot make one or more of the time slots, please post which. As I've noticed, even if some people overwhelmingly prefer a particular time, having just a couple people say "I can't make that time" can make it prohibitive.

Current options:
3-6pm
4.30-7.30pm
7-9.30pm

I'd like to put up a calendar entry this week, for either May 29th or June 5th as the start date.

I can potentially sub for this. I probably will not be able to attend until after the second week of June though. As far as times on Sundays I would be available anytime.

Well, we're finally starting to look decent on the roster. I think we have enough DPS between people who want to come regular like and backups who can come occassionally.

However, we still absolutely definitely need at least one healer, ideally a shaman or a paladin. Right now, we have just one that can come every week, and a second who won't be available every weekend. Considering a lot of fights need three heals, that means we need at least one fulltime healer, and another backup, or else several backups.

It would be nice to have a tank backup as well, since Therin might not be able to make every week.

Although 4.30-7.30pm isn't the most popular time, I think it's the only one that doesn't have any people who have said they outright can't make it. Please let me know if I'm incorrect in that conclusion, otherwise I think I might pick that as our final time.

I will have time solidified and calendar entry up by Friday.

I'm working on leveling Eli and would like the chance to sub with you guys, but can't if you pick the late time slot since that's partly during 9man.

Well, I'm hoping not to overlap with Nine Man for various reasons, but obviously depends on who can make it. Hopefully we can work it out with the 4.30-7.30 time.

I'm going to put you on the list, Eli, but don't feel pressured or anything if it does cut too close to Nine Man, and I understand if the time does end up overlapping that you have to retract the offer :)
